19 of Daniil Medvedev's twenty-one victories have been won on hard surfaces
A resurgent Medvedev secured his initial trophy for over two years with a win over opponent Moutet in the Almaty Open title decider.
The athlete, a former number one, has endured a difficult year, managing just one match at the Grand Slams and undergoing a setback at the New York tournament.
The player's inconsistency on the tennis tour - and struggles with his service game in specific - led to him exiting of the world's top 10 and ultimately parting ways with former coach Gilles Cervara.
Currently collaborating with Johansson and Goetzke, Medvedev has steadily improved in the past month - climaxing in a hard-fought three-set win over challenger Corentin Moutet.
This marks the player's maiden trophy since the 2023 Rome Masters and first on a hardcourt since March of 2023.
Success also indicates he has secured twenty-one championships at 21 distinct events.
"It's the first time I am participating in a competition with my both daughters simultaneously, so to secure a title is particularly special," stated tennis professional the champion.
"This title is in dedication of my younger daughter Victoria, because the maiden victory I won when my child her name was delivered was for her."
The tennis star, the former major winner, had been defeated in his last six championship matches, featuring in that event previously this season.
The player's defensive approach and recurring reactions on court had prompted observers to doubt if his ability to perform at the highest level was over.
Yet the athlete has implemented adjustments in the last few weeks, making an effort to approach the net and play assertively, reinforced by an enhanced serving game.
Medvedev recovered from a deficit in the opening set against the challenging opponent, taking four of the final five games to go ahead.
Both players traded break points in the second set before the Frenchman, bidding for his first tour victory, gained dominance to create a third set.
The opponent rescued four initial opportunities in a competitive deciding set before the Russian won the break to that score to close out the victory.
Fittingly, he clinched the win with a point at the net, with Moutet unable to handle a volley after a lengthy match.
