The EU could “act quickly and firmly” against what it calls “unjustified” travel bans issued by the US on five Europeans involved in fighting digital hatred and disinformation, an EU official stated.

EU Officials Condemn US Action as ‘Intimidation’

European leaders such as the French president charged Washington of “coercion and intimidation”, after the travel bans targeted figures who have been at the heart of efforts to introduce legislation regulating US-based technology firms.

“For too long, ideologues in Europe have spearheaded coordinated campaigns to pressure US companies to punish US perspectives they oppose,” stated a senior US official online. “This government will not stand for such actions of extraterritorial censorship.”
